Could My Edges be APL...Maybe?

This was a serious MUG SHOT. I covered it up especially for my lovely friends on facebook. :) Ha ha! (YUP its 4 you Ashley!)
So umm it looks like my edges are APL. I will get a chance to see once I take these braids down at the beginning of August. Unlike the other picture I posted of my strand test...this is the hair on my left side...the edges. Ummmm <--- did that make sense? Hopefully it did, lol cause that is the only way I can explain it. :) It looks like it but I will NOT allow myself to claim it b4 I see all of my hair. :) Check out the arrows. They are showing you were my arm pit starts (APL) and where that strand of hair ends.

CO-Washing with ORS...

Okay last night instead doing the tea rinse I decided to just Co-Wash like planned. I used ORS con. After that I sprayed some Infusium 23, applied some HE LTR and let my hair dry till about 95% and sprayed some Oyin Frank Juice and sealed with coconut oil. This morning my hair feels so good and hydrated. Why did I ever stray away from my ORS? This will become my new baby for co washing. Somebody is getting replaced! Could it be HE Coconut milk? I know I will never part my Aussie. LOL. Anyway I am beginning to love my new growth texture.

Michael Jackson: The King Goes Home...

Damn Micheal is actually gone. :( I had to take a moment out of my hair care and pay respect to this man. Anytime you can make hundreds of people cry and pass out in a concert you are truly a bad motherf***! Music has changed so much and taken a new direction that I mostly find myself listening to "oldies" even tho I am only 26 years old. Its sad to see great artist like this leave us. But remember when GOD says its time to go, its time to go. No one can run from death. Rest in peace Michael! You will be missed.

Okay Neyo, Usher....it's time to fill some "Bad" shoes!

Indian Herbs

Above is my stash
I found this useful info from the long hair community:

Indian herbs have been used for thousands of years and are still being used and will probably stay around for another thousands of years. Here are some of the things that Indian herbs are good for:

Methi - It makes the pastes very mushy, soft, and easy to apply, and rinse out and it is a great herbal conditioner I have tried so far.
Neem - (powder or leaves) can help get rid of pimples and dandruff, lice. Good hair conditioner too if you dont mind the smell.
Amla (gooseberry) - Thickens, darkens, and nourishes hair.
Shikakai - Hair cleanser, great alone or mixed
Aritha (whole or powder) - Helps rid hair of dandruff. Hair cleanser
Mehandi (henna) - Strengthens, adds shine and conditions hair. Also used as a herbal hair dye.
Chandan - Smells heavenly! Conditions and helps darken hair.
Til (sesame) - Promotes hair growth, darkens hair, sunscreen.
Bhringraj - Darkens, strengthens, and conditions hair. (I have found that it is best used in conjunction with other herbs for more beneficial conditioning).
Coconut - (used as oil or milk) conditioning, strengthens, helps keep hairs dark, cooling to the body and head.
Castor oil - maintains thickness and darkness of hair(used for light treatments with other oils).
With that being said I am going to do a Tea Rinse tonight with Alma and Tusli powder because I am out of my Bhringraj and Brahmi. :( I will try to take pictures of it. I remember last time I was home I tried to do the paste and punked out because my hair was getting to hard. I caked it all on top of my head like a retard...lol. I got lucky that time, but this time I am going to stick to the rinses. Here is a picture of when I piled it on top of my head:

Taking Down My Front Braids...

Yup, I took them down cause I am having some problems I will mention later in another post. But yup I took em down gurl and I am LOVINNNG my texture. It was surprising how soft and moisturized the strand was once I removed the synthetic hair. Now you are probably wondering how I am going to style my hair afterwards. Well check this out:

Yup...now that's how I cover it up!

Raining Dust in Iraq & New Growth Shots...

Argh, last night I washed my braids using my "new" jar of organic mayo and it came out great but I know I used to much because this morning my braids were a lil greasy. I applied it to dry hair and saran wrapped it for 30 minutes and washed it out. I then shampooed with my aritha soap bar (Indian) and deep con with ORS Con.

Anyway so I woke up this morning and walked outside into a damn dust rain...yes dust rain. B4 you know it the whole sky gets orange and dusty as hell! So dusty that we are wearing those white nurse face cover things. So far its been like that all morning. That's what happens over here in Iraq. I had to walk to work and you can imagine how sandy and mad I was! So tonight I will have to cowash. I really dont want to do that because I am getting alot of slippage on my braids.

So far they are all holding on. I think it may because 1, I am washing them alot more frequently and 2 because of the braiding hair. What do I mean by that? Well my logic is because the synthetic hair is sort of like plastic it's easier for the hair to slide with a little extra help from water. BUT that is just my opinion. Hey I am no expert.
Oh while I am posting here is a pic as of last night of my new growth so far. This section is a section where almost no slippage has occurred.

Every day around 1700 (Iraq time) one of my three lovely friends / heffas pick a topic and we start emailing back and forward to each other. WELLLLL one day I was busy paying attention to the stock market and was not responding SOOO they started joking on me in the emails. They said I ride the short bus (comment by Ashley), they said it looked like I have lip injections (comment by Ashley)......it was alot of funny stuff but too much to put here! LOL! So this post is dedicated to them wenches!

****Message to ASHLEY, SIMONE and JESSICA (HEFFA's)****

How to be Successful with Braids....

So you want some Micro Braids and you are hesitant to get them because you are scared your hair will fall out.

Come on now, lets be realistic do you actually think micros braids can take your hair out? I can see it now...the braids getting mad and saying F' it, I'm outta here....and they fall out. LMAO! See it sounds crazy right? Well I dislike hearing people say that micros will take their hair out. YOU are the only one that can take your hair out or make it grow. You want long hair, well you can have it! First educate yourself and keep it simple.

*This is off topic but I always wondered why people go to a hair stylist and get mad at them because they are ripping through their hair with the comb. I know I am going to get stoned for saying this but WTH do you expect. A hair stylist is just that, a darn hair stylist. It's self- explanatory. Their job title tells its all. They are their to style hair. Ask them to see their job description. LOL...Why should they care about it. They are doing their job by "styling" ya hair.*

Okay now back to what I was saying. Ladies you have to listen to your hair. If you have braids and they are hanging by 2 strands of hair then take them out. It's too easy! You can either take all the braids out and get a style that compliments that section where you took the braids out.

Why do most people loose hair while in braids?
Well this is just my personal opinion but their mentality when they have braids is that they do not have to do anything to their hair. Some people go weeks without washing. Like my friend Jessie said, "It's follicle suicide!" Its crazy and the hair suffers.

The next thing is they pile all of the hair sheen, grease and gel on the roots and expect the scalp to breathe. Once again its crazy! It's a crime, lol!

Okay b4 this post become long and I loose focus (lol) I will say that there are alot of reasons that people loose hair when in braids. But it's not the braids, its the PERSON.

In conclusion since I fussing, I will say that the K.I.S.S regimen while in braids is:
  1. Find you a light moisturizer (I prefer S-curl or Oyin Berries and Juices)
  2. Find you a growth aid *optional* (I prefer Megatek)
  3. Find you a sealer (I prefer coconut oil)
  4. Find you a great protein conditioner and moisture conditioner
  5. Find you a great deep conditioner
  6. Invest in a silk head scarf
It's too easy, but remember just because it works for me does not mean that it will work for you. If something doesn't work for you just educate yourself as to why it doesn't work. Your hair is your glory. Don't think so, ask ya Granny...it's in the bible.

Okay Reverend Tiffie is out! LOL

Stock Market Goes Green 4 Me!

..Okay so I know this is off topic BUT who cares! :)

Good morning hair buddy's! I can't believe I haven't been on the hair forums ALL day! I have been patiently waiting on the stock market to open. Since open I have gained $140.20 and its steadily rising. I have also been studying some potential stocks such as ACTC. I now have a total of 3144 shares of CTIC , only 6,000 shares of SPNG and its on the rise. CTIC is in Phase III and the odds of it getting FDA approved are high. So if it goes all the way green then I will be VERY happy. I still can't 4get the day I came in here and saw that I made $749 off it in a day! Yeah its hard to believe but its true. Man it pays to do your research. Well I just dropped by for a minute. Oh in case you are wondering what is CTIC, I have a thread I started over on LHCF about it. If I put as much time as I do into this blog and hair stuff I believe I can make some things happen! Whoo hooooo, I know you can tell I am ecstatic over here!

Strand Update! LOL!

Okay here is yet another "strand update!" Yesterday after seeing all those wonderful updates on LHCF and BHM I couldn't resist taking down some more strands of hair to see my progress. It sucks though because my camera on my battery was dead so I had to use my web camera on my mac and the lighting in my new living area is not good. <-- Wow, that was a RUN ON sentence! LOL!
Well at least you can still see the pictures. Anyway. I think I am getting somewhere with this hair. Hopefully I can retain all this length minus the shed hair when taking out these micros. Remember ladies, if you complain of not seeing progress then 9 times out of 10 I bet its because you are not retaining length.

I had to throw these in there to show that my edges are still holding up pretty good.

Mega - Tek and Protein Overload on Braids

Ohh no please say my baby MEGATEK is NOT guilty of this! To all you heffa's accusing my baby of this HE is NOT guilty! I only use him every two days so he doesnt get tired of me and that way I can balance out my other relationship with ummm whats his face....Mr. Moisturizer. At times his stuff gets a little too hard but then I just soften it up a little with Mr. Moisturizer. But after hearing all these RUMORS about my baby I will have one eye open so thank you all for the warning.

P.S You heffas make me sick! LOL! I'm joking. I love you all and in case you didnt get my joke I am talking about using too much protein (Megatek). I try to balance it out so I wont have that hard crunchy hair.

I Want A Lace Front Wig :(

After seeing Chavascandy progress on LHCF, I decided I want to try a wig or lace front wig. Now just cause I said that does not mean I am actually going to do it but eventually I will work around to it. I might try it out on my R&R.

What's stopping me from trying it now?
First I need to find out how I am supposed to moisturize under that bad boy. If its hard then forget it! I will stick with my braids. :)

Why a lace front wig?
Ummm well I like the idea that you can part it unlike the traditional granny wigs! :) Naw I am joking. The granny wigs are pretty. I am just hating cause I dont know what to do with them. :)

The pictures you see to the right are the ones I am thinking about ordering from Hairsisters.com They both are only $54.99

Day Off Work and Trying to Find a Hairstyle...

So finally I got a day off work. I only slept till 0930. So I have ALL day to play in my braids! Yahhhhhh! LOl, I know it's sad but I am a hair crazy fool! :) Anyhooo, I am tired of wearing my side pony tail. Its too long and its played out. I am not creative when it comes to styling. The only thing I know how to do is hide my forehead! Remember that I cant wear styles that are on top of my head because work requires us to wear hats. Anyway here is what I came up with. Its not all that and my hair is frizzy because last night I was toooooo tired to do anything to it. Oh and one other thing... I am sure you can tell I had my lil sticky fingers all in makeup! Hey practice makes you better. Well at least I hope! Whooo-hoo... I'm trying to be a makeup pro. Ummmm but I got a lonnnnng way to go. :( Ohhhh and one last thing...YES that bubble gum was good!!! I chewed about 10 pieces. Oh dont trip, you what I'm talking about! That's that gum with that flavor that make you say f' it and you start to chew like a cow..... Then the happiness and good flavor all comes to an end 40 seconds later! LOL, yup, that's the SUPA BUBBLE GUM!

Product Review & Product Buildup

I think lately my hair / braids have been experiencing a little product buildup. It feels kinda icky at times. I expected this to happen since I was on the roll with trying out different products. I believe all the products listed below to be the culprit!

Products Tested:
  1. Vo5 Daily leave in Conditioner (undecided)
  2. Vo5 Heat Defense Conditioning (Hateeeeed it!)
  3. Jane Carter Revitalizing leave in (Left my hands feeling a little sticky)
Instead of shampooing and washing like I should have I decided to cowash. I dont know what I was thinking. So maybe today I will clarify just to get back on track.
