My Hair Check In - 30 Dec 2010

Today is my day off so I decided to give my hair some much needed TLC because I have been neglecting it while wearing these LW's! I know that is mad. For 2011 I need to UP my hair care game and get off the bench! 2008..2009 was a GOOD hair year for me. Its crazy cause thats when I wore micros. :( Anyway, in these pictures I took my two granny plaits loose and moisturized them. Look at the pic of my ends. Do they really look that bad? Because I am trying NOT to cut or clip them. So let me know your opinion. Thanks Divas and Happy Holidays. Oh one more thing. I used. HE LTR splint end, Nuetrogena silk touch, Megatek, Scurl (mixed with Infusium 23) and sealed with coconut oil. The top portion of my hair is before the moisture.

The Difference B/W French Lace and Swiss Lace

A while back a lady asked me to tell the difference b/w Swiss and French Lace. I apologize for the late response but here goes…..

 

The French Lace is more durable and will hold up better over the long run. The Swiss lace is slightly thinner, and a little less detectable, however it is less durable and it rips easier. It's hard to tell the difference between the two. Both are undetectable. Most people order the French Lace. The Swiss Lace is not recommended for first time users. It is best to learn how to apply the wig and become skilled at the application prior to advancing to the Swiss Lace. Swiss Lace is “supposed” to be undetectable. The highest quality is made in Switzerland.  See picture above. Some vendors will definitely try to trick you so be careful. After doing the research I found that one of my favorite American Vendors not PLW’s J) uses Swiss Lace on all her units….. and they look GREAT / very natural. I am going to start ordering Swiss lace to eliminate the headache of trying to blend the French lace with my complexion. The 1^st picture is an example of the Swiss lace against the human skin. I bet you are like….I cant even see it. What is she talking about? Well look closer…its there.

 

Now for the French lace…that’s another story! That is the typical lace you get from the vendors online. This is not to be confused with the beauty supply lace. The beauty supply lace  is the hard stiff plastic looking lace. That is the kind you have to work with and tweak, apply makeup and other stuff. HTH’S J

I was sent this hair to review for Ruutos Hair. It is a 22inch Virgin Chinese Indian Remy Full LW! It’s my 1^st Chinese Indian Remy and I like it! I am so used of wearing the yaki or kinky yaki but this hair is soooooooo easy to style. The hair is very soft and flows nice. Now when Ruben told me the hair was going to be 22 inch I thought OMG! But it looks sooooo darn pretty once applied. I feel like a video model, lol. This is not hair that I can wear to work but definitely party hair! Okay about her company…. It’s a South African based company. She is very creative and takes lace wigs to a whole new level with her styling techniques. She asked me to do some updo pictures so that is why there are so many. J From chatting with her on Skype she is a very educated lady when it comes to hair and her business. She is becoming a “hit” for hair in South Africa. I am happy she sent me this hair for review. My Custom Lace Wig from Pink Lace Wigs

…Yes I am addicted!

I received my custom lace front wig from Pink Lace Wigs the other day! I love it! The texture is soft, but feels kinda dry. I think because it is kinky yaki. I am no expert but it’s not EXTREMELY dry. The hair line again is on point and the color is fabulous! Pink Lace Wigs have done it again! I wish they provided better customer service and announce the video blogger winner!. I never had a problem with them but there have been a lot of complaints and proof of it is on Face book. Pony Tail - Glueless Lace Wig

Last night I was trying to find a new hair style because this hair is starting to tangle up in the back when I wear it down all day. First I tried a pony tail but didn’t like it. Then I tried an updo and fell in love! Ophs let me watermark these pictures before the thieves steal em. The pictures where I have on the black shirt is today at work.

 

Update on the unit from Pink Lace Wigs:

Washed it for the 1^st time = TANGLED DRY MESS. I have yet to figure out the root of this problem. It may be the sand in Iraq or water. I need a new water filter for my shower.

 

After spraying a lot of oil free wig shine on it, the hair REALLY mimics 4AB hair. But around noon time it starts to tangle.

 

Shedding…YOU WONT BELIEVE IT! I want to say none because it’s literally like 4 strands that occasionally come out. Sometimes there is none.

Review: Miss Wigs Deep Curly Lace Front (Not Applied)

So I decided to try misswigs.com AGAIN….YES against my better judgment. The last unit I had shed like a sick dog! I decided to try them again because some people were saying they improved their lace wig quality.

Str8 outta the bag it appears to be ok. The density is very good. That I will give them an A+. From my experience, all of their units have great density. The hairline looks nothing like the pictures they post on their site. Evidence of this is from my comparison. But it’s a good difference!

 I haven’t applied it yet because I am scared of how the color will look. I work with a lot of other than black people…so I do not feel like dealing with the comments all day….OH you changed your hair color…..you have good hair….etc… No harm was meant in what I just wrote, but you know it’s the truth so don’t trip! J

Metal Comb for Tangled Lace Wigs

This is the BEST comb for detangling! I know it may look harsh, lol but it gets the trick done for lace wigs that are badly tangled. I forgot where I ordered this from but once I remember I will post and update. Have any of you ladies used this one before?

Tell the Difference B/W Human Remy Hair and Synthetic Hair

I JUST LEARNED OF THIS TIP FROM THE RPG SITE:

If you do want to double check the material after receive the unit, here are 2 simple methods to help you tell the difference between Remy human hair and synthetic fiber wig:
1. You can cut a single short hair and burn it. Human hair smells the same as your own hair when burning because it has protein inside. While synthetic fiber doesn't smell the same way.
2. You can take the wig to any professional in salon, he will tell you it's human hair without doubt.
BTW, hair extensions are in the same situation.

Plaid Shirts

Plaid and black/white checkered shirts have been my favorite style for this winter season. I have been doing A LOT of online winter shopping for long sleeve collar shirts for work. If you are interested….. American Eagle has a BUNCH of very pretty comfortable plaid shirts. Below or above is a picture of the one I am wearing today. I decided to pair it with some grey aeropostale jeans and some pink and white new balance sneakers. Just something simple.
