Review: Jojoba oil is officially a "staple product" of mine!

Jojoba is a natural oil derived from a shrub which grows in areas like California and Arizona. The oil is unique because it is the only naturally occuring oil that is not triglyceride. A triglycewhat? Don’t worry about what that means, what is important is because of this it has very similar properties to sebum. What’s more is it actually mixes readily with sebum which forms a substance that “provides exceptional transepidermal respiration and moisture control”.

Jojoba is very easily absorbed into the skin through pores and hair follicles and because of this “the pores and hair follicles can remain open and thus maintain their proper functionality.” When the jojaba oil is absorbed it losens and and dissolves hardened sebum and therefore give room for the hair to grow and also for the follicle to become healthy again. Unlike sebum, jojoba doesn’t clog and harden.
Not only this but it will leave your scalp soft and well conditioned so this might help with dry flakey and itchy scalps. You can buy it over the counter in any good health shop, look for 100% oil, and if possible make sure that is “cold pressed”. And there’s more…Jojoba usually increases the shineyness of the hair too. It’s best applied after a hot bath or shower as the pores will be open. Just massage it into your scalp with your fingertips.
I use the oil every morning on the roots of my twists and it keeps my hair feeling soft all day!
