Lace Wig or Sewn in Weave?

You already know I am going to say lace wigs. In my opinion lace wigs are better for the overall health of your hair and they are easy to do it yourself. Now that doesn’t mean that lace wigs look better, lol….But when it comes to great lace wig applications it all depends on the application and the hairline. Keep reading to discover the differences between opting to wear a sew in weave or a lace wig.

How Do Weaves and Lace Wigs Affect Your Natural Hair?

Lace Wigs: Your hair has a chance to rest underneath a lace wig. Your hair does not need to “assist” in the process of installation…..

Sew in Weave: Most of the time your hair is corn-rowed and the weave hair is “SEWN” into your hair or a net! If it is sewn onto the hair, you know it’s going to pull your hair TIGHT in order to “secure the weave” from “loosening” fast. That’s a lot of stress on the hair strand. Think of your hair as silk. When it’s time to take the weave down you run the risk of cutting your hair by trying to cut the stupid black string? LOL, you think it’s funny? I have actually saw this happen! Not a good look, lol.

Sew In Weave: For sew in weaves most of the time you need to leave some of your OWN hair out. That can be bad because that little “leave out” section is going to catch hell from the constant flat-ironing or curling the hair to  make it blend.

Lace Wig: There is no need to leave any hair out. If you choose to use glue to adhere your lace wig, make sure you apply the lace wig a little below your natural hairline because if you are not can eventually pull out your own hairline.

Lace Wigs: With lace wigs you have the option of securing the unit to your head with bobby pins and it will still look natural. You also have the option of covering your entire head without any “leave out” hair. I prefer to use glue because of the wind over here.

Sew In Weave: For a good Sew in Weave you are going to pay at least $200 dollars. Look at Reniece prices: http://www.reniece.com/services.html .... For a full weave the price is $320 for the first appointment! Now don’t get me wrong she can “lay” some weave, but damn! I can get two human FULL lace wigs from vendors that will lace for about  6 months versus 1 install.
