Trying New Lace Wig Colors!

I am soooo loving this color its a 4T/27 full lace wig. I have always been scared of this color. With a lil makeup on it blended with my skin. Ladies dont be afraid to step out of ur normal and don't listen to people. Do whatever makes YOU happy! If you wanna rock a red lace wig do it! U will never truly know how a lace wig will look on u until you apply it!

Washing a Full Lace Wig on Your Head

2day I went to the Safari in Thailand and the bugs.. flies... nats and every thing possible landed in my head. I just reapplied my unit 2 days ago with Ghost Bond so you knoooww I was not going to take it off and reapply it while on my vacation.

So I decided to wash it while it was on my head. I was worried about my real hair underneath not drying properly but I remembered that I only have a stocking cap on underneath so the hair will dry fast especially if I use the blow dryer as assistant.

How did it turn out? The whole process was easier than I thought!

How did I do it? Separated the hair in two sections.. And shampooed the sections separately and then conditioned them. I used the hotel products.

Lastly blowed dried and lightly flatironed the frizzness out. Here is a picture of the wet hair and the dry hair.

Simple Styling for a Greasy Lace Wig / My New Color :)

This is just a quick video to show how a lace wig would normally look after wearing the wig non-stop for 2 weeks. Tho I have not added any product to my lace wig  my head scarf absorbs everything so that is what is causing my lace wig to look greasy. I will wash the unit in about a day or two once I return to my camp. I sorta like the slightly greasy look because in my opinion it makes the hair looks more realistic but I know some of y'all will be like HELL NO..wash that thang girl! LOL Let me know what you think of this color.

What is the Importance of Washing your Lace Wigs?

We have to remember that when we purchase human hair lace wigs we have to sort of treat them like our own hair. You are probably thinking what is the DAMN purpose of buying hair that I can’t curl every day? You might as mess with your own hair if that’s the case, right? (Neck roll, lol) NO! If you want your units to last  cause they don’t come cheap then you better think about it. Like our own hair when its dirty it stinks and attracts every micro living organism to the hair strand. 

So ONE you need to wash your hair for health reasons. Tyrone don’t want you laying on his pillow with bugs in your weave, lol.  

Second once that dirt builds up and you apply heat that melts the dirt into the hair strand thus causing breakage  or stiff hair with no body. In my before picture do you see how my curls are and how stringy the hair is?

Third, we all know that good feeling when you have new hair and your hair is just blowing in the wind…you be walking around like a VS model, lol…. Well if you don’t wash your lace wig hair you can expect it to be stringy and greasy and it will not hold a curl.

Now that we got that out of the way… How often do I wash my full lace wigs? I wash them like every 7 days depending on the glue I am using. Below or above you will see how my hair looks after 7 days and after a fresh wash! LAID and it blows in the wind! LOL. *Drops mike and walks of Stage*

The unit I am wearing in this pic... is an afro curl full lace. None of my hair is out except a little in the back. If you are trying to go natural or want something a little wild try a textured unit with a dab of color to pop! Its always good to pull a couple of strand out in the front to take away from the obvious hair line or lace. :)

Natural Lace Wig Edge - How To

I used to think this was considered a big NO NO but it turns out that it depends on how you are doing it. What am I talking about? I am talking about taking a couple of strings at the edge of the lace wig and gluing them on your skin. WHAT the f**!?? Yup! I said it. A lot of people turn their noses up at this idea but to me it works and it helps camouflage a str8 edge wig. Remember Chili from TLC? She has long baby hairs but her hair didn’t look crazy.

Think about it…who has a hairline with no stray hairs in the front? Well besides the female who is still relaxing her hair bone str8 nobody. This is also a good method to do when you want to pull your hair back. As long as you do not pull an entire section of hair down and glue it ….the hair will not look crazy…I promise, lol. The Difference between Afro Kinky vs. Kinky Curl Full Lace Wigs

It has been entirely too long for me to be missing from blogging. I'm tripping. I just been busy with work and I have been on vacation since 31 July :) To cut the chase and makeup for it.. Here are a few pictures of my full  lace wigs that I am proud of. This one is the afro kinky full lace wig.

Likes: Easier to manage than the kinky curl. This hair take well to just wetting it. So far No product is needed besides water. Minimal styling is needed. At night to preserve my lace wig I sleep with all of the hair in a bonnet. I do not twist or section the hair at all. In the morning all ai do is I finger comb and wet the hair

Ummm I am happy with my hair but not SCREAMING cause these strands took me through HELL in 2012. Hopefully 2013 is a good year for me. Funny thing is everrrrrytime I say I am going to cut my hair if it doesnt "act" right it starts to thrive! Son of a Bisshhhh! LOL. Okay enough venting. My last relaxer was 31Jan2013 and I know its time for another relaxer so I will try to wait until the end of this month to relax...yeah dont believe anything I say. My next relaxer will be 2034, lol!

It's been awhile :) I am in Thailand now. Been here for 10 days and tomorrow is the last day :( Anyway today I decided to try something a little something different this time around to achieve a natural lace wig part because sometimes when I use the makeup that matches my skin in my part, it too red. So this time around I decided to pick up some "knock off" MAC makeup in Thailand at the MBK mall and try it out. So far I like it and it looks good. How to use a Bandage for a Natural Lace Wig Part

Every time I see a bandage I always snag it up because I swear it’s going to look good under my lace wig, lol. Take a look at the pictures…what do you think? Do you think it will work as an alternative for faux bleaching knots on your lace wig or do you think it will just make you sweat uncontrollably and cause all your hair in the front to fall out due to the NO ventilation? LOL….

Okay let me stop joking…. The bandage that I used in the pictures has a sticky substance on the back of it where all I had to do was press it against the lace wig for it to stick. I think it looks ok but it’s too light for my scalp.

Megatek for Hair Growth!

I can’t believe I have never done a “detailed” blog post on Megatek. What is Megatek and how do you use it on your hair for “hair growth?” Megatek is a hard protein that was originally formulated for horses but is now “safe for human” usage. What does Megatek smell like? To me it smells sort of fruity like coconut and berries or something. The consistency is of a medium thick white paste. It melts right into the hair so you do not need to worry about white residue.

How do you apply Megatek for hair growth? Back in the day when I got a lot of growth from Megatek I was applying it to my scalp and leaving it on until the next wash day. Now I have started applying it on my scalp and the length of the hair.

Warnings: Because this is a protein, too much usage can cause your hair to feel hard and break. You will experience “protein overload.”  How can you prevent protein overload?  Make sure to balance your hair with a moisturizer. I used to use the Scurl (old formula); now in 2013 I am using the Oyin Juices and Berries.

What kind of growth did I get from Megtek?

Well let’s say it like this… I was able to grow my hair six inches in one year and retain ALL of it using Megatek in my regimen.

Where can you purchase Megatek: I always buy mine from Amazon but if you are in the U.S I hear you can find it in almost any pet store.

Are there any other alternatives to using Megatek on the hair? Yes some people like to use it as a deep conditioner. I do not prefer that method because I feel like the megatek is not getting enough time to really penetrate the hair, lol… I know sounds crazy, lol….

I am telling you Lace Wigs get a bad reputation but that is only because amateur's get their hands on them and they apply it without knowing. Hey they gotta start somewhere though. I remember when I applied my 1st lace wig I was so caught up on how natural the hair looks coming out of scalp. I was too happy to notice how thick and moon shaped the hairline was. I was so happy I did not notice how un-natural my part looked. But over time I got it together. You have to learn what works for you. Over time I learned that I learned that it I don't always have to bleach the knots, I could fake bleach them and get away with it.

 If I received a lace wig that hairline was too thick I would cut bangs.

My Growth Progress from Oct 2012 - Feb 2013

Like I said my hair will grow, its just trying to maintain it over here with this harsh Afghanistan water that's full of chlorine. I pray that I stay on the right track. I may need to stop using the shower water and use bottled water. But I just can't picture myself taking 1 hour to wash my hair with bottled water.... smh. Comparison Pictures - The Challenge to Thickening My Hair

You know due to the massive shedding of my hair since December of last year my hair thinned ALOT!  There has been several times where I "thought" I had it under control but it was a false alert.  Lately it hasn't been shedding as bad because I have been consistent with using coconut oil and taking my hair vitamins (Nixon) and I recently started in some yummy Vitamin D chewable pills. So is my comparison between Jan and February. The thinness in the 1st picture has a lot to to do with me relaxing BUT I didn't relax bone straight so I know the thickness in the 2nd picture is real.  Anyway I have came to the conclusion that I can GROW my hair but the hard part is "maintaining" it.

Sally Hasen Spray for a Natural Lace Wig Part!

Tired of bleaching your knots on your full lace wig? Believe me! I know the feeling! Are you tired of trying to bleaching your knots only to find out the knots will NOT bleach? There is help girl! Try taking some Sally Hansen spray... I prefer the deep glow and spray it on the underside of your lace wig and let it dry. I recently learned a new tip... The more you spray, the better and more natural your part will look. "The perfect illusion" of a natural part on a lace wig! Don't worry, it will seep through just a little, but its bearable. Alcohol on a cotton ball will help with the spray that got on the hair. Here are some pictures of the unit I recently did...

This is one reason I DO NOT like beauty supply store wigs and I stay buying directly from China. LOOK at this damn picture! Just look at it again…. Does that lace front wig LOOK anything like the lace front wig the model is advertising? Hmmmm, NO…helllll no…. I know the color is different…but first look at the length…. Then look at the density on the hair ends…. The advertised picture ends are a lot thinner.  Then the bangs wont flip back like the picture! SMH… Man that is why lace wigs get a BAD rep! Women who don’t know anything about lace wigs be like girllllll I am about to get me a lace wig from the Beauty Supply Store….. once she gets in there 1^st the store is  having a ½ off sale on lace wigs (1^st SIGN) then the chinese lady has the 1 black girl that works in there offering a  free application with the purchase of a lace wig (2^nd sign). Then she does not cut the lace off at an angle….. she cuts it straight. Instant STEVE HARVEY hairline ( 3^rd sign) Then she applies it on the HUMP of her forehead…the girl then looks at how natural it looks in the mirror. Girlllll my hair never been this thick and pretty she exclaims to her friend. They walk outside and then the humiliation begins…… SMH
